Dental Veneers FAQ's

Cosmetic Dentist serving Boulder and Denver, Colorado

What are porcelain dental veneers?

Dental veneers are thin sheets which are bonded directly to your teeth in a relatively easy and painless procedure. They can reshape a tooth, hide flaws such as chips, cracks and discoloration, and close small gaps. Today's porcelain veneers can be color matched so that they are nearly impossible to distinguish from your natural teeth.

How long does it take to have dental veneers put on?

It usually takes three appointments. During the first, Dr. Schaffer will determine whether you are a candidate for dental veneers. During your second visit, the tooth (or teeth) is shaped to allow space for the veneer. A mold is taken and sent to a lab, which creates the veneers. At the third appointment, the dental veneers will be fitted to your teeth and permanently bonded.

I'm a nervous dental patient. Will I need anesthesia?

Most patients experience little, if any, pain during the procedure. Dr. Schaffer will make sure you are completely comfortable during your dental veneer procedure by numbing the area that is being shaped. If you are very anxious, Dr. Schaffer offers sedation dentistry so that you can be completely relaxed and comfortable during all your dental veneer appointments.

Do dental veneers require any special care?

You can brush and floss your dental veneers just as you do your natural teeth. With good dental care, your veneers should last many years.
