CEREC is a new, state-of-the-art technology that allows Dr. Schaffer to make ceramic restorations for your teeth right here in our office. Instead of having an impression taken and then waiting two to three weeks for a lab to create your new restoration, we have an on-site machine that does the same job in about an hour.

Dr. Schaffer uses CEREC to create:

  • Fillings
  • Veneers
  • Inlays
  • Onlays
  • Crowns

Although CEREC cannot be used for every case, Dr. Schaffer will determine if you are a good candidate for CEREC restorations.

One of the great benefits of CEREC is that it doesn't require a traditional impression. Instead, Dr. Schaffer will coat your teeth with a safe, tasteless powder. A 3D camera is used to scan your teeth using computer imagery. That information is transferred to a special machine here in our office, which creates the ceramic piece on the spot. Dr. Schaffer can then fit, polish and bond the CEREC restoration, during the same appointment, so there's no need to wear temporaries or return for additional visits.

The end result is a natural looking dental restoration that matches your other teeth in size, color, and appearance.
