A smile makeover is a customized group of cosmetic dental procedures. Your smile makeover would be planned between you and Dr. Schaffer, after you have had a full dental examination. When a person has a dental problem, they do not always realize it. But a highly-trained cosmetic dentist can detect misalignment in the bite, can pinpoint teeth that are rubbing each other and causing premature wear, and can correct tiny cavities before they grow large.

Once your dental health has been improved and established, cosmetic procedures become more safe and appropriate. There would be little point in enhancing your smile - for example, with porcelain veneers - and then discovering that those teeth had decay entering them from the back surfaces.

One of the first smile makeover procedures is often teeth whitening. If you are going to be including replacement of old metal fillings in your smile makeover, those porcelain inlays and onlays can now be matched in color to your newly-whitened natural teeth.

Perhaps you need to replace one or more missing teeth. Dental implants are a strong and permanent way to do that, with the implant firmly embedded in the jawbone and a white porcelain or acrylic tooth attached to it. That way, both gaps are filled - that left by the tooth and the one left by the missing tooth root.
